The firm is known for its high profile work in its litigation areas of practice, including civil and criminal. It has a very popular training scheme and is rated highly in the Lex 100 Guide to UK Law Firms for the amount of client contact trainee’s experience. It is also known for the high quality of its work. The firm continues to strongly develop its privately funded litigation and non-contentious practice. In 2007 the firm moved to new larger premises near Euston. We had a 100% retention rate in 2019. Accredited with Lexcel. At Hodge Jones & Allen we employ well over 200 people and run a popular trainee programme so throughout the year we have various vacancies.
Types of work
Crime, personal injury, multi-party actions, public law, police actions, miscarriage of justice claims, human rights, dispute resolution, property disputes, financial crime and regulatory, asbestos and mesothelioma, mental capacity and deputyship, medical negligence, family, housing, wills and probate. Applications from both law and non-law graduates are welcome. You should be able to demonstrate a consistently high level of academic and personal achievement. We generally expect an upper second class degree.

Trainees have a full induction on joining Hodge Jones & Allen covering the work of the firm's main departments, procedural matters and professional conduct. Training consists of four six-month seats where trainees assist their supervisor (associate solicitor or partner) and they formally review their progress at least once during their seat. The training is well structured and the trainees have the benefit of a mentoring scheme.
The firm provides good administrative support so trainees can concentrate on legal work rather than administration. The firm has an excellent IT infrastructure and continues to invest heavily in IT to keep pace with innovation.
The firm is in the process of finalising our position in regards to implementation of the SQE.
