City law firm Ashurst LLP has announced pay rises for both its London-based trainee solicitors and newly-qualified (NQ) lawyers.
The biggest winners from the salary boost will be NQs, who will see their pay increase from £61,000 to £63,000. Trainees' salaries will also increase: first-years will receive £39,000 (up from £38,000) and second-year trainees see a rise from £43,000 to £44,000. The announcement follows a two-year pay freeze for junior lawyers at the firm. Recently, Slaughter and May confirmed that it would also be increasing the salaries of its NQs and similar pay rises have been published by Linklaters, as reported by Lawyer2B.
