Browne Jacobson has further expanded its apprentice scheme to take on four new recruits, who join the six September 2012 apprentices.
The four new apprentices, all from Nottingham, will join the firm's technical claims and clinical negligence teams providing a range of business support functions. They will be taken through the Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship in Legal Administration by ILEX Tutorial College, in partnership with West Nottinghamshire College.
New apprentice Phoebe Harpham said: "The training and qualification element of any apprenticeship scheme is really important. The firm's strong partnership with CILEx and commitment to sponsoring apprentices in gaining CILEx qualifications was particularly attractive and convinced me it was too good an opportunity to miss."
In other apprentice news, CILEx CEO Diane Burleigh has responded to news of the possibility of BPP Law School launching a legal apprentice scheme, with a warning that take-up may be limited: "While there may be financial benefits [for students], what I think will limit take up of this as a route is the length of time it is likely to take to qualify." She went on to add that people already have the ability to become solicitors without a degree via the CILEx route, and that BPP's offering is unlikely to "challenge either what we do or the university degree route".
