Trainee solicitor

Vacancy type: 1 or (possibly 2) trainee solicitor positions offered. Successful applicants will be required to complete a three month probationary period as a paralegal, which when successfully completed, will automatically lead to a training contract.

Vacancy description

Successful candidates will undertake case preparation working on criminal law files, as well as dealing with extradition and confiscation cases.    

Key responsibilities include:

• file and office administration;
• securing legal aid funding;
• keeping clients fully updated with case progress;
• perusal of case papers;
• attending client conferences/prison visits;
• taking clients’ instructions; and
• ensuring that all steps necessary for the proper preparation of cases are taken.

Selection criteria

• Law LLB or equivalent  
• Police Station Accreditation (desirable)
• Previous experience of working for a criminal Law firm (desirable)
• Extradition law experience (desirable)
