LPC Law are seeking BPTC and LPC graduates to undertake advocacy work in the County Courts of England & Wales.
LPC Law is the UK's largest provider of advocacy services. We are seeking advocates to represent local councils, insurance companies, private individuals and the major banks in a large variety of civil hearings including mortgage possessions, bankruptcy, summary judgment applications and small claims trials.
Employed position
At present we are seeking candidates based in Cornwall. The position is a 12 month fixed term contract, £26,127 p.a.
Freelance positions
We are particularly seeking candidates based in Cornwall/Devon, Lancashire/Cheshire or Northumbria. However, we will also accept applications from candidates based throughout England & Wales.
Working as an advocate, you could be in court everyday, managing your own caseload, formulating submissions and putting them before district judges in chambers. You will deal with ushers, solicitors, defendants and witnesses. Typical duties include:
You must have achieved a minimum of a very competent grade on the BPTC or a commendation grade on the LPC.
You must have the ability to understand the business needs and commercial realities from both the firm's and the client's perspectives.
You will need to demonstrate independence, self-motivation and excellent time management skills. You will need to be able to think on your feet during pressured situations, whilst always putting your client’s case forward in the strongest terms. You must be able to research the law and apply it to practical situations.
You need to have excellent public speaking skills, good attention to detail and an ability to write accurately and professionally. You must be able to get on with people.
Hearings are paid at a fixed rate per hearing or annual salary as above. Travel disbursements are paid.
