The first two apprentices to join Withers have started at the firm’s London office in its real estate and corporate departments. The firm is also one of the first to sign up to the Trailblazers Apprenticeship in Law initiative, having played a key role in helping to shape the programme through its steering committee.
The apprentices, Aishanna Nduneme (real estate) and Alex Hirsh (corporate), joined on 1 September and will undertake the CILEx Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Legal Services. The Trailblazers programme, supported by the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills and the Department of Education, enables school leavers to train as they work, with the aim of qualifying as solicitors, paralegals or legal executives.
Simon Luckett, HR director of Withers, said: "We are delighted to welcome our inaugural apprentices to the firm this September. The apprenticeship scheme is ideal for bright A-level students who are motivated to pursue a legal career which could otherwise have been denied to them because of the cost of university education. Our involvement makes an important contribution to the firm’s other social mobility programmes and will help to dispel common myths about the difficulties of starting a career in law."
