International law firm Withers LLP has announced that it’s achieved Mansfield Rule Certification Plus in the UK and US having demonstrated its progress in, and commitment to, increasing diversity.

Withers voluntarily provided recruitment and promotion data to Diversity Lab as part of the year-long certification process, which aims to ensure that at least 30% of the firm's recruitment and internal promotions into leadership roles are from underrepresented groups, including women, racial and ethnic minorities, LGBTQ+ lawyers and lawyers with disabilities.

As part of Withers’ comprehensive diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) strategy, the law firm is:

  • reviewing pay structures for fairness;
  • reducing gender and ethnicity pay gaps;
  • fostering inclusive DEI networks;
  • developing supportive policies; and
  • providing extensive DEI training and education.

The global head of talent acquisition and diversity at Withers, Jaya Louvre, expressed her excitement about the achievement: "We are thrilled to have been awarded Mansfield Certification Plus status... This certification is an affirming milestone as we continue to champion diversity within our organisation and in the wider legal sector."

Withers' dedication to fostering inclusivity and diversity in the legal industry is a significant step towards making the profession more accessible.

More than 360 law firms have now achieved Mansfield Certification, including Baker McKenzie, Cooley (UK) LLP, Debevoise & Plimpton LLP, Mayer Brown International LLP, Hogan Lovells and more.
