The Territorial Army (TA) is actively recruiting lawyers via a just-launched TV ad campaign. The TA LIVE recruitment drive intends to entice specialist professionals, such as lawyers, to join the TA and "do something extra with their time and seek a rewarding experience outside of normal working hours".
The campaign emphasises that the Army Legal Services (ALS) offers the best of both worlds to people who want to experience army life, but are unable to make a full-time commitment. ALS is a specialist branch of the army and has a growing role within it. Responsibilities include: prosecuting in military courts-martial; giving legal advice on international, civil and military law; and advising on operational law, the law of armed conflict and the rules of engagement.
The TA LIVE recruitment drive is the first in a series of major recruiting campaigns to illustrate the range of opportunities available and to increase the number of TA soldiers to 30,000 by 2018. For more information about career options in the TA, go to the website.
