Ward Hadaway, a leading full-service UK law firm, has announced a record financial performance for the 2023/24 period, with revenue increasing by 7% to £48 million. The stellar financial year was driven by the law firm's strong growth across its Leeds, Manchester and Newcastle offices in a range of practice areas, highlighting its financial stability and commitment to sustainable growth.
Ward Hadaway managing partner Steven Petrie highlighted the significance of these results, stating that they provide a “really strong foundation” for the firm's ambitious long-term growth plans to increase “turnover by over 50% in the next five years, targeting £100 million by 2034”.
Petrie also emphasised the positive impact of strategic investments on the firm's “ability to attract, recruit, retain and engage excellent people”. Ward Hadaway has made significant strides in expanding its leadership team with the appointment of Nick Gholkar as executive partner of the Newcastle office in May last year. The firm also added eight new partners in 2024 as part of more than 100 new colleagues who joined across the course of the year, marking a critical step in its vision to enhance client service.
In addition, Ward Hadaway's commitment to nurturing talent and fostering a thriving culture is evident in its appointment of 14 new trainee solicitors and one solicitor apprentice in the past year, bringing its total headcount to more than 500. The move is part of the law firm's ongoing investment in developing the next generation of legal professionals, providing structured training and support for their career success.
Petrie added: “We provide an environment where individuals can excel at every level, offering guidance, growth opportunities and the tools to fulfil their full potential. Our people are fundamental to our success.”
Elsewhere, Ward Hadaway is investing in technology and the establishment of an innovation team to explore the potential of AI in delivering legal services. The firm is also dedicated to responsible business practices, including reducing its carbon impact, supporting more than 50 charities and prioritising diversity, inclusion and wellbeing.
