Vinson & Elkins increases salaries, including for trainees and NQs

Vinson & Elkins has announced that as of the beginning of this year, salaries for newly qualified solicitors have jumped by 25% to £100,000. Second-year associates will enjoy a 22% raise, to £110,000, and third years to £120,000.

Trainees at the firm have been enjoying larger salaries since September 2015, when they went up to £45,000 for first years and £47,500 for second years.

Alex Msimang, managing partner of the firm’s London office, said: “Our talented lawyers and trainees are a vital part of our commitment to providing excellent client service, and these measures help ensure they are rewarded for their hard work. Our firm's success depends upon attracting and retaining the best talent and these compensation changes, combined with our career development programmes, allow us to remain highly competitive in this market.”
