John Latham has joined The University of Law (ULaw) as its provost and CEO, following previous roles at Laureate Education Inc and Russell Group universities. Latham takes over as provost from Nigel Savage, who will continue to act as president of Ulaw.
Latham, reporting directly to the Board, is tasked with promoting the university within selected global markets. His former positions include chief operating officer at the University of Liverpool and board member of the Quality Assurance Agency of Higher Education.
In reaction to his appointment, Mr Latham said: "The University of Law is already the world’s largest provider of legal education and training and I believe it is uniquely well positioned to continue to define what quality higher education provision can do to best serve the needs of students and employers." Alan Bowkett, chair of ULaw’s board, added: "John brings a track record of building sustainable, high-quality growth in the higher education sector. We are very pleased with his appointment and look forward to seeing the university’s further development under his leadership."
