updated on 12 August 2021

Bushra Ali Solicitors appoints Aisha Seedat as disability, diversity and inclusion champion – a first for a UK-based law firm.

The law firm, with offices in Leicester and Wrexham (UK) has hired Seedat to lead on corporate social responsibility across the Bushra Ali Group. Her role will involve reaching out to equality and diversity officers in various sectors to build relationships and start driving meaningful conversations. Seedat is a recent health studies graduate from De Montfort University and as alumni is now a motivational speaker who lectures students on mental health and disability management. She also raises awareness of MPS Iva – a rare degenerative disease that she lives with but one that has never held her back.

Commenting on her appointment Seedat said: “I share my story in the hope of breaking down barriers. I’m also very aware that my story is just one among many, many others and I’m looking forward to raising the profile across all manner of issues including disability, mental health, poverty, equality, diversity and inclusion.”

Bushra Ali Solicitors’ founding director welcomed Seedat in a LinkedIn post: “Aisha has been on a truly inspirational journey, and we are delighted to welcome her to the team.”

The Bushra Ali Group, founded by immigration law expert Ali, who won solicitor of the year in 2012 and again in 2016, was launched in January 2021 and in a short amount of time has hosted a plethora of events and seminars focusing on equality and diversity. The firm specialises in immigration law, including human rights abuses and violations relating to immigration law.

The quality of the firm’s practice has not gone unnoticed as they were nominated in May for the highly regarded Niche Business awards in six categories including:

  • businesswoman of the year;
  • best small business;
  • best customer service;
  • community impact;
  • entrepreneur of the year; and
  • professional services.
