The number of firms taking on legal apprentices continues to increase steadily, with Withers LLP and Hill Dickinson both confirming schemes for school leavers.
Withers announced it will recruit four school leavers for its apprenticeship scheme, which will be based at its City office. Those selected will have the opportunity to work in the real estate, employment and litigation departments and apprentices will undertake the CILEx Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Legal Services. Simon Luckett, HR director of Withers, said: "We are delighted to be able to offer this scheme, which is ideal for bright A-level students who are motivated to pursue a legal career, which would otherwise have been denied them because of the cost of university education."
Meanwhile, Liverpool-based firm Hill Dickinson is looking to recruit 12 apprentices, starting at the firm in September 2014. In 2013, the firm demonstrated its commitment to legal apprenticeships when it signed up to Manchester Law School’s scheme. Candidates for the 2014 intake will need to have gained three B grades at A level, although applicants of any age can apply provided they are not university graduates. The two-year scheme will see apprentices work towards their Chartered Legal Executive level 3 qualification. David Wareing, a senior partner at the firm, commented: "As a business with its roots firmly in Liverpool, Hill Dickinson has always been keen to provide career opportunities for young people from Merseyside and this scheme is a further way of actively achieving this… we are certain that the scheme will be a huge success for those individuals and the firm."
