Thomas Egger is set to continue its legal apprenticeship programme with a new hire after its first apprentice successfully progressed to the role of trainee legal executive.
CILEx Law School will continue its teaching relationship of the last two years with the firm and the new apprentice will complete the Advanced Apprenticeship in Legal Services. Meanwhile the qualifying apprentice, Danielle Owen, has been employed in the property practice group at Thomas Eggar’s Gatwick office. Having finished the Advanced Apprenticeship, Owen has already completed some of the first training units to qualify as a chartered legal executive.
Georgina Naylor, Thomas Eggar’s HR manager, said: “When we took on our first legal apprentices last year our intention from the beginning was to bring local young people into the business who we could train to be the fee earners of the future. Danielle’s success in passing the knowledge and competence elements of the apprenticeship has given her an excellent grounding on which to build. Her progress over the past two years has really proved the apprenticeship route for us as a means of bringing in young talent.”
Jenny Pelling, business director of CILEx Law School, also commented: “Advanced Apprenticeships were only introduced in September 2013 and we are seeing the first intake complete their qualifications. Danielle’s experience at Thomas Eggar is a great example of how innovative firms can use the Advanced Apprenticeship in Legal Services to recruit and develop bright school leavers. We look forward to working with the new recruit who will start with the firm in September.”
