The 17th annual Student Volunteering Week is this week (19-25 February).
A full programme of events is taking place nationwide on the theme of ‘student civic engagement’. See what’s happening near you and get involved through the Student Volunteering Network website.
Volunteering is also a hugely important part of the legal profession’s activities, with legal advice centres and organisations such as Citizens Advice relying on volunteers to provide their services. And with swingeing legal aid cuts devastating the sector, the only access to justice that many vulnerable members of society now have is thanks to the efforts of lawyers and students giving up their time for free.
You can find opportunities to volunteer through LCN’s list of pro bono schemes.
