The fifth annual Sport Resolutions conference took place last week, with this year’s focus on the key industry issues of anti-doping, gambling addiction and racism in sport.
The speakers were a mix of specialist sports lawyers and former sportspeople such as Maggie Alphonsi, Viv Anderson and Tony Adams, while the topics discussed included ‘Is WADA [the World Anti-Doping Agency] in control of global doping or is the aim of a unified code slipping away as a forlorn hope?’ and ‘Sport and gambling: happy bedfellows or a toxic mix?'
Femina Akkar, head of operations at football anti-racism organisation Kick It Out, spoke at the final discussion, titled 'Is sport welcoming to all or does it depend on who you are?'
The event was sponsored by global law firm Winston & Strawn, which has one of the world’s leading sports law practices, most recently recognised as ‘law firm of the year for sports law’ by US News & World Report.
