Simmons & Simmons has announced that it will donate £2 million to charities to support covid-19 relief efforts worldwide after a strong financial year.
The international law firm’s robust financial performance was published in a report that declared profits of £171 million, up 35% on the past year.
The generous donation pot will be split across Simmons’ international offices to ensure that charities across the firm’s network can benefit. As such, each local office can decide where to donate their share of the firm’s donation – whether it is to organisations within their local communities or those that are further afield. This is the firm’s way of recognising that “no two experiences of the pandemic have been the same and that different countries will have different legacies to contend with.”
Commenting on the charity donation, Julian Taylor, senior partner elect said the donation is a “testament to the hard work of our international team that we are in a position to reflect our values in this tangible way.” Julian continued: “The strong financial results we have recorded, coupled with the significant and long-lasting impact of the pandemic have driven us to make this one-off donation.”
This announcement comes after Clifford Chance and Baker McKenzie launched a campaign for India victims crippled by covid-19 and raised several thousand pounds, surpassing their target.
