Shoosmiths has announced its newly qualified (NQ) lawyer salaries will rise by 8% in London to £97,000.
Meanwhile, NQ pay in the regions will increase from £60,000 to £63,000, a 5% increase. Wages are also set to rise in Belfast and Scotland, to £57,000 and £37,500, respectively. All pay rises will take effect this November.
Chair of Shoosmiths, Kirsten Hewson, said: “At Shoosmiths, we’re known for being a great place to work, with bright, engaged, high-performing teams that deliver excellence for our clients. Cultivating that positive environment starts with ensuring our junior colleagues thrive and excel.”
She explained that the salary increase is “a part of our holistic approach to developing our lawyers, affirming our dedication to training aspiring solicitors in a culture that’s supportive and ambitious”.
Shoosmiths is also making changes to its legal training with the launch of its solicitor apprenticeship programme in September. The firm will welcome its first cohort of apprentices to its Birmingham office, with a view to expand the programme in future years.
