SQE1 results: “landmark day in legal education”

Thursday 20 January 2022 is the first results day for part one of the Solicitors Qualifying Exam (SQE). Candidates who sat SQE1 in November 2021 received their results at 3:00pm today via their SQE candidate accounts.
Professor Peter Crisp, the deputy vice chancellor of The University of Law (ULaw), has described today as a “landmark day in legal education as candidates, including apprentices, received their results for the very first sitting of the SQE.” He added: “More than 200 ULaw students sat the SQE1 having undertaken intensive preparation programmes using our unique learning technology including our mobile app specifically designed to support them in answering multiple-choice questions.”
Candidates who have received their results can now complete the pre-booking steps for the SQE2 assessments – these steps include revisiting the diversity survey, completing the online ID verification process, and confirming any reasonable adjustments.
The booking window for the April 2022 assessment of SQE2 will open at 10:00am on Tuesday 25 January. Once the pre-booking steps have been completed, candidates can then select their preferred SQE2 assessment slot. The Solicitors Regulation Authority is encouraging candidates to book early if they intend to sit SQE2 in April 2022.

But in the meantime, we would encourage those who passed to now consider proceeding directly to SQE2, especially if they’re in the flow of exam preparation and study. And for those who perhaps were not successful this time, please do not be discouraged, you’ll have the opportunity to re-sit the SQE1 exam later this year. Those choosing to prepare with BARBRI will have access to one-to-one mentorship support and a personal study plan to support them on this journey.”
