Queen Mary University of London has launched a three-day online course that will be offered by The Centre for Commercial Law Studies.

The introduction of the professional development course arose in response to the covid-19 impact on global economies and is in partnership with the University of Florence.

The course will run from Thursday 17 to Saturday 19 March 2022. The webinars within the course will cover three building blocks in alternative investment techniques:

  • Venture capital.
  • Private equity.
  • The wall street trend that’s emerged since 2020 of Special Purpose Acquisition Companies.

Participants who attend the three-day online course will:

  • learn how to be at the forefront of the latest developments;
  • learn about new trends;
  • understand the key features of the latest international finance techniques;
  • evaluate the role of these techniques critically;
  • appreciate the relationships between them; and
  • understand the economic and legal issues in transactions pre-and post-IPO.

The course shows how covid-19 has opened new opportunities for academics, investors and will mainly benefit lawyers, analysts, economists, policymakers, international financial regulators, academics, and the financial industry tout court.

Course co-director Ettore Maria Lombardi, professor of Private Law and International Business at the University of Florence, continued: “The course represents a way to gain or increase expertise in fields that already represent the future of the economy. Especially in phase of markets’ transition such as the present one, the only possibility to ‘be the wave’ and not simply be ‘within the flow’ is to know and ride the new technical tools. This new course offers all these possibilities, putting the planetary gotha of both academic and professional worlds at participants’ disposal.”

The course also offers continuing professional development (CPD) and professional credits for lawyers in Italy and the EU. CPD is important because it offers lawyers ongoing development in their knowledge and skills. Participants can attend sessions for £450 or pay £1,100 for the whole series.
