Plexus Law celebrates legal apprenticeship scheme success

National firm Plexus Law has announced the first seven alumni of its apprenticeship scheme, all of whom have been offered permanent jobs at the firm.

The seven apprentices embarked on their two-year placement at Plexus in September 2012, when the Parabis Group became one of the first to offer a national legal apprenticeship scheme. A further 22 apprentices have since joined the firm on later intakes.

Six of the graduate apprentices have qualified as legal assistants at the firm, with the seventh joining Parabis’ finance department.

Hilary Yeo, a graduate recruitment partner at Plexus Law, said: "We are extremely proud to have retained all our apprentices and are particularly pleased that one apprentice has found his niche and will now be pursuing a career with our finance team."

She added: "We believe that we are now one of the largest employers of legal apprentices in the United Kingdom and have been pleased to roll this scheme out to several of our other offices, including Manchester and London."

Legal apprenticeships have garnered increased interest in the past few years, with many school leavers choosing to join law firms and receive on-the-job training, rather than going to university. Most apprentices work towards a formal qualification, for example as a legal executive through the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx).

Plexus’ legal apprenticeship scheme comprises a Level Two NVQ in Business and Legal Administration. In addition, apprentices spend six months in each of four teams over the two-year placement, including time spent working in administration and finance departments.

Plexus Law has 10 offices throughout the United Kingdom, including headquarters in London and two offices in Scotland. Alongside Greenwoods Solicitors, Plexus forms the defendant insurance law arm of Parabis Law LLP, the legal services division of the Parabis Group.
