A midlands firm, Talbots Law, has recruited nearly 100 staff to expand its business.
It has recruited more than 100 new roles across its seven branches, ranging from senior and administrative legal roles to business support positions.
The firm became one of the largest legal practices to commit to being owned by its employees. Former chief executive and main shareholder Mary Morgan sold most of her shares to a newly-formed trust in November 2021. The firm says it came to this decision to “capture and protect” the company’s culture.
The most recent financial statements for the year ended 31 December 2020 showed pre-tax profits of £2.24 million on turnover of £11.1 million. The expansion will be self-funded through the existing balance sheet.
The firm has recruited staff in the following departments:
Talbots Law shared its excitement of launching its project #100 campaign, which welcomed 100 brand new people into the business at the beginning of 2022. The firm also recently revealed that it had become an officially accredited ‘living wage employer’ and, as such, pledges to pay its employees above market rate salaries as almost 20% of west Midlands workers earn less than the living wage.
Chief executive Dave Hodgetts said: “We are committed to providing our clients with the best possible service and having happy, well-paid, motivated staff encourages that. It’s important that our staff feel looked after and are earning wages that both reflect their contribution and allow them to provide the life they want for themselves and their loved ones.”
