The Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year Awards 2015 (LALYs), run by the Legal Aid Practitioners Group (LAPG) have been launched.
The awards include categories for family legal aid, family mediation and access to justice through IT. The Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx) has confirmed that it is sponsoring the awards, supporting the criminal defence category. Nominations are open until 27 April, with winners announced on 1 July 2015 at an awards ceremony. Submissions can be made via the LAPG website.
Carol Storer, director of LAPG, explained why they are proud to organise the awards: "The tougher things get, the more vital it is that we all recognise the work of those at the legal aid coalface, who continue to work tirelessly for the poor and marginalised, in the most challenging of circumstances."
