Lawyers with Disabilities Division plans free student event on employment issues

updated on 15 January 2014

The Lawyers with Disabilities Division (LDD) is running an event on "Disability and employment" on Tuesday 18 March, designed to offer attendees an insight into what working life as a disabled lawyer is really like and more general careers advice.

The event will be held at the Law Society in London’s Chancery Lane, running from 1:00pm until 5:00pm. As part of the afternoon's line up, partner Robert Hunter will be giving his personal experiences of working in a major City firm with a disability, the impact disability has on a career and how attitudes to disability have changed.

Other speakers, including LawCareers.Net's editor Isla Grant, will provide attendees with:

  • advice and guidance on whether to declare a disability during the application process;
  • general techniques for obtaining a training contract; and
  • an exploration of the importance of social media.

This free event is aimed at law students and those who are about to start, or are currently on, the LPC, as well as newly qualified solicitors and people involved in diversity and inclusion within firms or organisations.
