Law applications increasing faster than other subjects

updated on 16 July 2013

The number of people applying to study law at university is rising at a higher rate than university applications across all subjects, figures released by UCAS have shown.

While the number of applicants across all subjects rose 3.1% between June 2012 and June 2013, the number of law applications increased 5.1% in that time. This is likely to mean that the high level of competition for training contracts, pupillages and paralegal roles will not be easing off anytime soon, while the profession's desirability becomes even more apparent when the popularity of the GDL among non-law graduates is taken into account.
