Law and business news round-up: Facebook, Morrisons, TPP, Black Friday, Autumn statement

With more Brexit-related stories than you can shake a stick at this week, our commercial round-up aims to keep you apprised of the business stories that you should be keeping an eye on. Why? Well, first because you just should have a general interest in big UK and world news, and second, because you will be more informed when it comes to interviews and general interactions with potential employers. - Facebook is to increase its UK presence by 50% in 2017, with 500 more jobs and a brand new London office.
- Morrisons may have instigated a consumer price war on petrol pricing as it drops prices by 10p for shoppers, taking it to under £1 per litre for the first time since Brexit.
- Trump has vowed to make one of his first acts as president quitting the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade deal. The TPP was signed by 12 countries in 2015, with its aim to “deepen economic ties and boost growth, including by reducing tariffs”.
- Going, going, gone: Black Friday is expected to be huge this year as shoppers attempt to avoid the inevitable Brexit-related price rises that will follow.
- The treasury’s traditional Autumn statement has revealed that the United Kingdom will be £122 billion worse off by 2020, with a £59 billion “black hole” directly attributable to Brexit.
