Law and business: commercial news round-up 11.12.14

- The ever insightful Robert Peston examines what an interest rise would really mean for householders, who, the Bank of England claims, can "handle it".
- Tesco shares plummeted as it issued a warning in relation to its full-year profits - it is not expected to exceed £1.4 billion, a long way below the predicted £1.8 billion to £2.2 billion.
- Good news for drivers may spell bad news for the big oil producers; BP has just announced that it will be spending nearly $1 billion on making hundreds of people redundant next year.
- Around 43,000 Northern Rock customers will receive compensation following a High Court judgment ruling that the paperwork in relation to some of the bank’s unsecured loans between 1999 and 2008 was incorrect.
