LawCareers.Net's annual reader survey has left one aspiring solicitor £1,000 richer. James Brett, who currently works as a litigation executive in Liverpool but ultimately wants to qualify as a City solicitor, was the worthy recipient of the cash prize - for which all he had to do was complete our 10-minute online survey.
James was attracted to law by the wide range of challenges and opportunities that make the profession so interesting: "As a lawyer you're always going to be faced with new problems and expected to find a solution. For me that's what it's all about - a challenging and fulfilling career where you're constantly learning. I've always enjoyed working with people and hope that one day I am applying the expertise I have developed to meet my clients' needs. I would love to develop my foreign language skills and experience other cultures, so the opportunities to work abroad appeal to me too."
James is currently in London on Ince & Co's trainee recruitment placement scheme, after which he will commence the LL.M LPC at the University of Law's Chester centre, meaning that the £1,000 entering his bank account is a timely boost.
Once James has started the LL.M LPC, he will need to start researching commercial firms at which to apply for a training contract - and he'll be using LawCareers.Net to focus his search: "Research is massively important while trying to secure a training contract and firms expect you to know their culture. It's also essential for making sure that you are applying to the right firms for you. LawCareers.Net is a fantastic research facility - I subscribe to the weekly email and have found the 'Meet the Recruiter' interviews particularly helpful."
Congratulations James - we hope your winnings come in useful!
