LC.N survey highlights resource and social media preferences

LawCareers.Net recently conducted its annual survey of users, attempting to find out how our many thousands of readers use the information that is available to them.
The findings were revealing on a number of levels. Among other things, we discovered the following:
- The perceived attractiveness of a career in law had increased much more significantly for non-law students (47%) than law students (30%), whereas 36% of law students - compared to 28% of non-law students - thought its attractiveness was on the wane.
- Respondents favoured Facebook over Twitter by a big margin - in terms of daily use, 74% used Facebook, compared to just 24% using Twitter.
- In relation to the online resources used by respondents, LawCareers.Net came out comfortably on top, with 98% of users saying that they visited the site. In the medium of print, the most favoured book was The Training Contract & Pupillage Handbook, with 75% saying that they had used it.
- Would-be barristers are doing well on the work experience front - 58% of those who indicated that they wanted to train as a barrister had done a mini-pupillage. This was compared to just 26% of those who indicated that they wanted to train as solicitors who had done a vacation scheme.
