The Junior Lawyers Division (JLD) has launched its annual essay competition for its student, paralegal and trainee members. This year, the essay question is: "Discuss the current and future effects of social media technology on civil and/or criminal litigation, including what steps litigators will now have to take to protect their clients' positions."
Only students registered with the SRA (eg, LPC students and post-qualified LPC students working as paralegals) and trainees are eligible to enter this competition. However, the JLD has agreed to extend eligibility to students who are due to commence the LPC in September 2013, provided they can confirm that they have submitted an application for student enrolment prior to the essay deadline.
Essays must be no more than 2,000 words long. The winner will receive £500, the runners-up £250. The closing date is Friday 26 July 2013. Entries must be submitted by email to the JLD. Read last year's winning entry here.
