International firm Hogan Lovells has joined the DiversCity mentoring scheme, the first programme specifically designed to provide informal support to LGBT students who aspire to a career in City law. Mentoring will be provided by members of the firm’s existing LGBT network, Hogan Lovells Pride.
The scheme was established following a successful LGBT DiversCity graduate recruitment event, hosted by eight City firms in December 2012. The students that attended have now been invited to join the mentoring scheme, whereby an LGBT City lawyer will mentor them on City working culture and life as an LGBT lawyer.
James McDonald, Hogan Lovells partner and co-chair of its London network, said: "Hogan Lovells is committed to progressing equality initiatives and promoting and maintaining a diverse workforce that is both inclusive and welcoming. A key part of this is ensuring that the pipeline of potential future LGBT employees remains strong, and participating in the DiversCity mentoring scheme is a great way to encourage the future generation of LGBT lawyers".
