Hackney Law Centre reopens pro bono debt relief and form-filling clinics as volunteers step in

updated on 17 November 2017

Hackney Law Centre has reopened its pro bono clinic for debt problems and help with claiming benefits thanks to volunteers from law firms Debevoise and Plimpton LLP and Faegre Baker Daniels LLP, supported by students from BPP Law School and staff at Hackney’s libraries service.

The important service will once again help Hackney residents needing help with Personal Independence Payment, Employment Support Allowance and Disability Living Allowance forms.

Students are vital to the effectiveness of the service, conducting initial interviews with potential claimants by phone to decide whether their cases require a lawyer. Find out more about combining community contribution and great legal work experience here.
