Firms reveal retention rates for trainees qualifying in Spring 2014

Several firms have revealed how many of their Spring 2014 qualifiers will be staying on as newly qualified (NQ) solicitors.

Trowers & Hamlins has revealed a 100% retention rate, with all six of its NQs staying on at its London office. Meanwhile, Lawyer2b reports that Linklaters kept on 50 of its 58 qualifiers - 55 of whom applied for NQ positions with firm - for a retention rate of 86%. Fellow magic circle firm, Clifford Chance, retained 45 of its 48 qualifying trainees (94%).

Hogan Lovells retained 25 of 32 qualifying trainees (78%), while CMS Cameron McKenna kept on 22 of its 28 qualifiers (78.5%). Elsewhere, Wragge & Co kept on six of its eight NQs for a retention rate of 75%.

Finally, Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe has not retained its single qualifying trainee in 2014 (we’ll spare you the percentage).
