European law firm Fieldfisher has partnered with global architecture and design firm Gensler to provide paid summer internships for students from Queen Mary University of London with disabilities or long-term health conditions.
The programme – the Gensler Diverse Legal Launchpad – is in its second year and was designed to provide students from underrepresented groups with access to the legal profession; this year the focus was on students with disabilities.
In July, Gensler London hosted two students for three weeks with the opportunity to also spend a week at Fieldfisher’s office for a series of workshops led by the firm’s employment, pensions, immigration and compliance team.
Fieldfisher's Birmingham Office Leader and Head of EPIC, Ranjit Dhindsa, said the firm was “thrilled” to be working with Gensler on a project aimed at widening access to the legal profession “while also opening the eyes of law firms and other businesses to deep pools of talent that have historically been missed by some organisations”.
