International law firm Eversheds is in talks to merge with US firm Sutherland Asbill & Brennan.
Negotiations are at an advanced stage, with the merger set to make Eversheds a top 10 law firm in the United Kingdom, and 39th largest in the world in terms of revenue (the merged business would create annual revenue of some £600 million). As The Lawyer reports, Eversheds has been seeking a US merger for some time, and it seems that Sutherland Asbill & Brennan, which specialises in corporate, energy, financial services, intellectual property, litigation, tax, and real estate services, and has several offices across the United States, fits the bill.
The proposed merger is expected to be put to a vote among partners at some point in the next few weeks.
