Eversheds has confirmed its upcoming merger with US firm Sutherland Asbill & Brennan.
Already one of the biggest firms in the United Kingdom, Eversheds is now set to gain transatlantic reach through its merger with the Atlanta-based firm. As the Times reports, the merger will create a firm with 61 offices in 29 countries, and a 2,300-strong partnership. The firm will initially operate with two chief executives, but Eversheds will certainly remain the dominant partner in the tie-up.
Bryan Hughes, Eversheds’ chief executive, said: “Our strategic desire to have a platform in America has long been public record. The challenge has been finding the right firm. Eversheds Sutherland will give each firm’s clients a truly global platform, including strong US coverage.”
