Aspiring barristers can win up to £4,000 via the Bar Council’s Law Reform Essay Competition, sponsored by the Bar Council Scholarships Trust.
The competition, which has been designed to develop and foster an interest in law reform, requires entrants to submit a 3,000-word essay on an area of English, Welsh or European law that they believe needs reforming. Competing essays must be submitted by 5:00pm on Monday 11 October 2021.
Those eligible to take part include candidates undertaking the academic or vocational stage of training for the Bar, candidates seeking pupillage, and individuals transferring to the Bar.
In 2020, Oliver Brewis won the competition with an essay called “Unravelling the sleeve of care: Fair Remuneration for Employer-contracted Sleep”.
Find out how to submit an essay for this year’s competition via the Bar Council’s website.
