The College of Law (CoL) has been appointed as the preferred provider of the Professional Skills Course (PSC) for Accutrainee, the legal training organisation. The partnership is already underway, with the first of Accutrainee's aspiring solicitors to take the PSC at the CoL having already begun the course and a second due to start this November.
Accutrainee's business model is to run Solicitors Regulation Authority approved training contracts through a series of secondments with the company's client law firms and in-house legal departments. The company claims that this offers its clients greater flexibility and decreased costs, while its trainees still achieve the same outcome as completing a conventional training contract: qualification as a solicitor.
Susan Cooper, founder and chief executive of Accutrainee, said: "Our trainees and their development are hugely important to us. We are therefore very pleased to be working with CoL, given its reputation as a leading legal education and training provider. Due to our bespoke training contract model which delivers new levels of flexibility and efficiency into the qualification process, it was essential for us to partner with a provider which can offer our trainees both top-quality training and high levels of flexibility in their training programme."
