Magic circle firm Clifford Chance has begun offering training contracts as early as to students who are still 18 years old.
The firm runs a work experience scheme for first-year students, through which Legal Cheek reports “exceptional” students are being offered training contracts just a few months into their university studies. The earliness of these training contract offers goes even beyond the recommendations of the new recruitment code, although students have until 15 September of their final year of study to accept any offer.
The news further shows that the previously widely followed code of good recruitment practice among law firms has been all-but abandoned, with firms now offering training contracts to students of any age.
