Magic circle firm Clifford Chance has announced that its summer vacation scheme will go ahead virtually, as coronavirus social distancing measures look set to remain in place for an extended period.
As The Lawyer reports, the scheme will be reduced from its original two weeks to three days over 1-3 July. It will be followed up with a two-day optional work shadowing placement in December, after which successful candidates will be invited to interview for a training contract.
The summer scheme will run utilising the InsideSherpa platform. It will focus on training for corporate practice involving webinars, recorded sessions and potentially a case study. Meanwhile, a ‘speed dating’ system will enable candidates to meet and get to know each other virtually.
Vacation schemers will also still receive the same remuneration of £450 for their work.
The leading firm’s LIFT programme, which would see vacation schemers sent on placements to several external companies, will unfortunately be delayed with a view to rescheduling later in the year.
Clifford Chance is currently reviewing start dates for those due to commence training contracts at the firm this year.
