Several City firms, including DAC Beachcroft, Osborne Clarke and Eversheds Sutherland, are repaying the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme money they received from the government to help them weather the effects of the pandemic.
After “performing well up to the half year”, DAC Beachcroft’s Managing Partner David Pollitt explained that returning the money was “the right thing to do”.
“We welcomed the support offered by the government at the start of the pandemic, and we opted at the time to make careful and limited use of the furlough scheme,” Pollitt said.
According to Pollitt, the firm will continue to “take a prudent approach” to its finances in case of future challenges likely over the next few months.
Norton Rose Fulbright and DLA Piper have also returned the money they received via the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme.
