Leading regulatory law firm Capsticks Solicitors LLP has been appointed by the Bar Standards Board (BSB) to provide external legal support and advice to the Board’s regulation of barristers in England and Wales.
The appointment followed a tender exercise, and Capsticks’ new role will involve advising on any legal challenges to the BSB’s regulatory decisions and in any other matters which may require third-party specialist advice.
Sara Jagger, director of professional conduct at the BSB, said: “We are pleased to announce the appointment of Capsticks to provide us with the external legal advice and support we need to complement our in-house legal experts. Their response to our tender was excellent and they were able to demonstrate substantial experience in regulatory and disciplinary law.”
Nimi Bruce, partner at Capsticks, said: "We are delighted to have been appointed by the Bar Standards Board. We feel our experience in the regulatory sector means we are well placed to work alongside the in-house BSB legal experts. We look forward to working closely together.”
Capsticks has also worked with the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) since 2009, with the SRA appointing the firm to its General Counsel Legal Panel in 2017.
