CMS awards law bursaries to first-generation university students

International firm CMS has awarded five law bursaries for 2015 following assessment days at its London and Edinburgh offices.

The CMS bursary scheme is in its fourth year and is open to high-achieving A-level students who will be the first generation from their families to go to university. Five students - Mia Bristow, Abigail Clarke, Chyna Fairclough, Matthew McShane and Ece Osman - have been awarded bursaries worth £2,500 for each year of the degrees after submitting competitive essays and attending an assessment day. Some 15 other students also made it to the assessment day stage without being ultimately successful, but all of them will receive the fine consolation of mentoring from a CMS lawyer as they apply for university places and paid work experience at CMS during their first year of study.

Mia Bristow, one of the impressive students to secure a CMS bursary, commented: "The bursary is an incredibly positive aid for me; I am now in no doubt that I will attend university, as the cost of higher education is no longer such a worry, and I feel as if I am being supported on my journey into university."
