The Modern Law Awards last week honoured the chief executive of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx), Diane Burleigh OBE, for her lifetime of achievements in the legal profession.
Burleigh has been part of the legal profession for over 44 years, practising both privately and in-house as a solicitor before becoming deputy director of policy at the Law Society of England and Wales and later the chief executive of CILEx, which she joined in 1998. She is retiring at the end of the year.
Since joining CILEx Burleigh has overseen the establishment of ILEX Professional Standards as an approved regulator and the granting to CILEx of a royal charter. Upon receiving her prestigious lifetime achievement award, she said: “I’m truly surprised and delighted to receive this award from Modern Law. I have a passion for law and the legal profession, and I have been very fortunate to work with many terrific people, not least our own CILEx members, to support the legal sector through challenging and changing times.”
