Clifford Chance has launched its third annual Intelligent Aid student competition, challenging students to "think critically about reducing greenhouse gas emissions". Prizes include vacation scheme places, iPads and a holiday in Rio de Janeiro.
The competition is open to all UK university and postgraduate students. Entrants must first submit an answer to the question, "What do you think are the most successful ways in which governments can ensure emission reduction targets are achieved?" (max 250 words). The writers of the top 40 entries will then be invited to the Intelligent Aid Final Day on 11 January 2013, where they will work in teams on a case study that relates to renewable energy. The work will be judged by a panel of partners and external experts.
The top 15 performers will each earn a place on the firm's 2013 summer vacation scheme and each member of the winning team will win an iPad. The overall best performer will win both an iPad and a vac scheme slot, and an all-expenses paid three-night trip for two to Rio de Janeiro. Impressive!
Jeremy Connick, partner and co-head of the firm's renewable energy group, said: "This is an opportunity for students to think about what we require lawyers to do, which is not just to answer a legal question but to think about the bigger picture, how it can affect our clients and how we can apply our skill and knowledge to support our clients' goals."
Entries must be submitted via the competition website between 15 November and 7 December. Start formulating your answer to the question now and be in to win.
