Expanding Northern firm Burnetts has invested £1 million into refurbishing a new city centre head office in Newcastle. The firm is set to move into the space in the new year to “allow for the next period of growth”, according to Managing Partner Nick Gutteridge.

Following the imminent move, Burnetts will be housed on the seventh floor of the 1 Citygate building at Gallowgate. Gutteridge commented that the current office “has served us very well, but we now need a larger space to enable us to create an environment where we can recruit and retain staff who buy into our culture and our values. At the same time, we believe this will also work extremely well for our clients.”

The investment into office space follows the growth of the firm over the past year. In May, Burnetts appointed Nicola Nutley as both partner and head of banking. Nutley, who has been at the firm for two years and has more than 25 years of experience, explained why the firm’s banking team has been so successful: “we recognised there was a gap in the North East for a firm with a dedicated banking team which could provide the full range of legal services to funder clients. That has helped us win business locally, but at the same time continue to expand our range of regional and national clients.”
