BPP Law School in Leeds has been nominated in two categories in the LawWorks Pro Bono Awards, due to be held on 11 June 2014. The annual awards celebrate the best legal work undertaken - for free - around the country, and the positive impact that work has on individuals and local communities.
The Leeds law school is nominated in the ‘Best Partnership’ category, for the work carried out by its Commercial Clinic and Eversheds LLP. The clinic, run by students and Eversheds’ lawyers, offers free legal advice to local SMEs and entrepreneurs. In addition, Bond Dickinson lawyer Penny Darragh has been shortlisted for the ‘Best Individual Contribution to Pro Bono’. Penny works with BPP’s Employment Law Telephone Advice Line.
Emma Blackstone, BPP Law School’s pro bono manager, said: "We are extremely proud of the pro bono work we do at BPP, as it allows our students and partners to use the skills they have gained to help members of the local community who may not have access to professional legal advice."
