BPP launches new LLM programmes for aspiring solicitors and barristers

BPP University Law School has launched two new master’s programmes, one each for aspiring solicitors and barristers.
Both programmes share the same name – the one for solicitors is titled LLM Legal Practice (Solicitors), while the postgraduate course for barristers is called LLM Legal Practice (Barristers). Each qualification enables students to focus on the area of the law into which they later hope to qualify.
The master’s degrees also qualify for the government’s postgraduate loan scheme, run the Student Loans Company. Students can study either LLM at BPP’s London, Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds and Manchester centres, while the solicitor programme is also available from BPP’s Liverpool and Cambridge sites.
James Welsh, BPP's joint director of Bar Professional Training Course programmes, said: "This LLM is designed around flexibility, choice and transparency. With stakes as high as they are, it would be very wrong to push all students onto a single-speed option. There are a number of choices in how to complete the LLM, and, importantly, we have a route which includes business strategy and negotiation, giving candidates a chance to develop skills valued by employers."
