BBC to offer more in-house training contracts starting in 2017 and 2019

updated on 03 March 2017

The BBC is to continue its trainee solicitor recruitment programme following a successful first two years.

The BBC began the scheme in 2015 by taking on three trainee solicitors, who have now qualified into the broadcaster’s in-house legal arm. It is now seeking to recruit three Legal Practice Course graduates or current students to commence training contracts in September 2017, and a further three in September 2019. Applications for both intakes open on Monday 13 March – candidates will be able to apply through the BBC’s jobs site from then.

As The Lawyer reports, each training contract will involve a placement with a London law firm to meet requirements for experience of both contentious and non-contentious practice areas. Trainees commencing in 2017 can expect a salary of £28,000 in their first year, rising to £32,00 in the second year.
