BBC legal apprentices start work; trainees to follow in September 2015

Three legal apprentices have just started at the BBC, joining its in-house legal team on a two-year advanced apprenticeship course that will lead to a Level 3 CILEx Certificate in Law and Practice.
The apprentices are being supported with training from CILEx law school, taking units including legal research and employment law and practice, as well as developing competence in other legal skills. They are also receiving hands-on experience in the central legal, worldwide and rights, and legal business affairs teams within the BBC, learning about its commercial and corporate interests. Each apprentice will experience work in three different areas, spending eight months in each placement.
Alison Neil, learning and development manager in the BBC Legal Department, says: "They are a lovely bright bunch who will be with us for two years. During that time, they will be exposed to a variety of challenging work, looking at contracts, employment issues and rights agreements, getting great experience of the many areas of legal work here at the BBC. Having legal apprentices is a new initiative for the BBC, but we firmly believe in the benefits both for us and for them."
This follows news that the BBC will also be taking on legal trainees in September 2015.
